Resort Association seeking new president

The Nevada Resort Association will press ahead despite the resignation this month of the lobbying association’s president, Bill Bible.

In a statement, the statewide organization unanimously voted to begin the search for the new president.

Resort Association Chairman Keith Smith, the chief executive officer of Boyd Gaming Corp., said the vote, “Reaffirmed that the NRA will continue to provide guidance and support to the gaming industry on a range of issues at the state and local levels of government.”

Smith said the organization represents the gaming industry’s public policy positions.

“The importance of maintaining a unified organization is more important now than at any time in our past,” Smith said.

Bible, a former chairman of the Gaming Control Board and state budget director, headed the organization for more than 10 years. He resigned to take position on the board of directors of casino operator MGM Mirage.
