Sometimes it seems that restaurants keep getting more open and, consequently, noisier. No wonder Barbara Davis is looking for those with cozy, intimate spaces.

Regular readers may remember a recent column in which several people lauded the lake perch at Jackson's Bar & Grill, 6020 W. Flamingo Road. After that item ran, I heard from several who rushed over there, only to find out that the perch wasn't what they had in mind.
What Midwesterners think of when they say "lake perch" is Great Lakes perch. What's served at Jackson's is Lake Victoria perch. Great Lakes perch are diminutive, fillets from them delicate little things; Lake Victoria perch -- more correctly called Nile perch -- are among the largest of freshwater fish.
