Maryland homicide suspects captured in northwest Arizona

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Two people wanted in connection with a May 20 homicide in Maryland are now being held in the Mohave County jail in Kingman.

The Washington County sheriff’s office in Maryland said Jerry Wayne Smith, 43, and Crystal Dawn Stanley, 39, are charged in the death of Margaret McAllister, 81.

The sheriff’s office said family members discovered McAllister dead in her home in the town of Hancock. Investigators are withholding information regarding the cause of her death.

Smith and Stanley were in a pickup truck stopped in the Kingman area on May 29. A trooper pulled over the pickup truck after running its registration and learning the vehicle was associated with the fugitives.

The suspects were held without bond jail pending extradition.
