Japanese flower arranging workshop scheduled
The Nevada chapter of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society will present a workshop on the art of Japanese flower arranging Saturday. There will be two sessions during the workshop, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The morning session will focus on betsuden, a variation of shoka's shin, soe or tai styling. It is a creative style, using special techniques originated by the headmaster of the Ikenobo school who served from 1796-1830.
In the afternoon, participants will study a modern shoka, sanshuike shoka, that was introduced after World War II This style uses three different materials and offers the choice of materials and creative arrangements.
Fresh flowers will be used throughout the workshop.

Society's spring rose show on tap April 18 at library
The Las Vegas Valley Rose Society will present its Spring Rose Show April 18 at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. The show is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m.
