Louisiana casinos get good news

Louisiana provided the casino industry with some encouraging news this week.

Louisiana gaming authorities said casino revenues were $214.9 million in November, a 6 percent increase compared with $202.8 million a year ago. The figures included gaming revenue increases of 15 percent in Lake Charles and 7 percent in New Orleans.

Las Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment and Boyd Gaming Corp. welcomed the good fortune.

Pinnacle, which operates casinos in Lake Charles, Bossier City and New Orleans, grew revenues almost 14 percent in the month.

Boyd, which operates Delta Downs in western Louisiana, Treasure Chest in New Orleans and Sam’s Town in Shreveport, saw gaming revenues climb 11.3 percent.
