Las Vegas man fatally shot at Halloween party identified

The man shot and killed at a Halloween party early Sunday has been identified by the Clark County coroner.

Robert Abner, 26, of Las Vegas died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner.

Las Vegas police said the shooting followed a fight at the party. Abner died at the scene, a house at 5717 Auborn Ave., near Jones and Lake Mead boulevards.

Abner was married to Marisol Hernandez and had three daughters, ages 8, 6 and 2, according to his sister Jenny Abner.

He was originally from Houston and had lived in Las Vegas since he was a teenager. He enjoyed mixed martial arts, traveling and fatherhood.

“He was a family man and a devoted father,” Jenny Abner said Tuesday.

Two GoFundMe accounts have been set up to raise money for funeral expenses.

“Within eight months our family has suffered the tragic loss of three family members we now try to find the strength to say our final good bye to our dear Robert Orlando Abner,” one account said.

The shooter, thought to be male, was last seen fleeing the residence in a vehicle, police said.

Police urge anyone with any information on this case to call Metro’s homicide detectives at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 to remain anonymous.
