MUSIC

Hand bell soloist David Allen will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson. There is no charge for the concert, but a freewill offering will be taken (454-8484).

Peoples Valley Chorus is seeking new members during rehearsals for Mendelssohn's "Elijah" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Anderson Hall at Guardian Angel Cathedral, 336 Cathedral Way, and 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson (565-5060).

The Israel @ 60 celebration featuring a concert by the Las Vegas Philharmonic with guests mezzo-soprano Eugenie Grunewald, tenor Nathan Brian Wine, clarinetist Shelley Hanson, the Adelson Educational Campus Choir and others will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 12 at Artemus Ham Hall on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. The celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a kosher VIP reception. Tickets are $300 for the reception and concert; $30-$90 for the concert alone (895-2787).

Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, will have the GVPC Swap Meet sponsored by the youth group 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. today. Proceeds benefit the church's youth programs (454-8484).

Guardian Angel Cathedral, 336 Cathedral Way, will have its annual Oktoberfest featuring an arts and crafts show, a bake sale, live entertainment and a drawing noon-8 p.m. Oct. 4 and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 5 (735-5241).

Lamb of God Lutheran Church and School will have a fundraiser featuring dinner, live entertainment, and a live and silent auction at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, North Las Vegas. Proceeds go toward community programs and expanding and updating the church and school facilities (645-4998).

Our Lady of Wisdom Byzantine Catholic Church, 2120 Lindell Road, will have an Oktoberfest celebration 5-9 p.m. Oct. 4 and noon-4 p.m. Oct. 5. A $16 donation includes an adult plate and a beer/drink ticket (873-5101).

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada, 4794 S. Eastern Ave., Suite C, offers singles programs for adults of all ages. Jewish singles in their 20s and 30s meet at 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of the month at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Co. at The District, 2220 Village Walk Drive, Henderson; Jewish singles age 60 and older meet for dinner at various locations the third Wednesday of the month in Henderson, and the last Thursday of the month in Summerlin; all singles meet for a movie the fourth Wednesday of the month at Rave Motion Pictures, 6857 Las Vegas Blvd. South (794-0090).
