SHOW US YOUR PURSE
December 14, 2007 - 10:00 pm
• Name: Birgit Velasquez
• Occupation: Hairstylist
• Occasion: Working at my new salon, Uptown Hair Studio
• What kind of handbag? Purple Dooney & Bourke alligator handbag.
• How much did it cost? $450.
• Where did you get it? At a department store in Savannah, Ga. My son was stationed there and we saw him before he was deployed to Iraq.
• What does your bag say about you? I love purple.
• Tell us about the first handbag you ever bought. The first real one was a small black Coach purse. It was years ago. I was a single mom and I saved my tips to buy it and still felt guilty spending the $150 it cost. But I never went back to anything less.
• What do you like about this handbag? Duh, it's purple.
• How many handbags do you own? Ten to 15 at any given time. I don't keep them very long (except the little black Coach). I give them to my nieces.
• What's the most you ever paid for a handbag? About $500. I cannot bring myself to spend any more than that. But I also don't care for the fake ones. It seems the more expensive the bag is, the more copies there are.
• Image is ... how someone carries themselves. REVIEW-JOURNAL
• What's in your handbag? Clockwise from top: Solar cuticle oil, Prada sunglasses, keyless car key, Walgreens moist wipes, Coach leather credit card holder and Hot Lips Lip Gloss in Visa.
