ACTRESS BARTON BUSTED FOR DUI

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Mischa Barton was arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence after her car was stopped by sheriff’s deputies early Thursday morning in West Hollywood.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the former star of “The O.C.” was taken into custody at about 2:45 a.m. after deputies saw her car straddling two lanes of traffic and failing to signal while making a turn.

Barton's arrest could derail her scheduled appearance Saturday in Las Vegas. Barton is slated to join celebrity chef Kerry Simon as co-host for the grand opening of his new restaurant, CatHouse Loungerie, at the Luxor.

This year has been a difficult one for Hollywood starlets who have faced hurdles prior to planned hosting gigs at Las Vegas venues. Lindsay Lohan was scheduled to host her 21st birthday party July 2 at Pure nightclub inside Caesars Palace, but canceled just days before the event after checking out of a rehab facility.
