Blues bands to perform

Bring blankets or lawn chairs to the outdoor theater in Lorenzi Park, 700 Twin Lakes Drive, on Sunday and spend an afternoon listening to the blues.

The gates to the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza open at 11 a.m., and the first band takes the stage at noon with performances until 6 p.m. Admission is at least two nonperishable food items, which will benefit the Community Food Bank of Clark County. Children age 12 and younger will be admitted free.

The Performing Arts Division of the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services and the Las Vegas Blues Society are teaming up to present the bands. Headliner Leon Blue is joined by Scott Rhiner and the Moanin' Blacksnakes, the Andy Walo Group, the SpellCasters, and Al El and the Shuffle-Aires.

Refreshments may be purchased from H&H Barbeque. Neither coolers nor pets are allowed. Call 229-1087 for details.
