Seitz, Paul perform song cycles Monday

UNLV assistant professor and soprano Christine Seitz and pianist Jessica Paul will perform the faculty voice recital "To Love, To Dream: Two Recent American Song Cycles" at 8 p.m. Monday in the Doc Rando Recital Hall of the Beam Music Center on the UNLV campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The recital will include "Where Dream Begins" by composer Paul Seitz, a song cycle set to six poems by May Sarton, and the song cycle "Sonnets From the Portuguese" by composer Libby Larsen, set to six poems from the collection of the same title by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Admission is free.

Reggae, wine party at Golden Nugget

Fifteen wineries representing more than 50 wines, including Reggae Rhapsody by Rock 'n' Roll Wine, and reggae band ForTwentyDaze will be part of the Reggae Pool Party today at the Golden Nugget.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. at the Golden Nugget pool.

Tickets are $38 at the door and include wine and entertainment.

Grateful Dead founding member dies at 84

Phil Lesh, a classically trained violinist and jazz trumpeter who found his true calling reinventing the role of rock bass guitar as a founding member of the Grateful Dead, died Friday at age 84.
