Wolf Pack coach reportedly fired after loss to UNLV

UNR fired head coach David Carter within hours after the season ended on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

The Wolf Pack suffered a 67-46 loss earlier in the day to UNLV in the opening round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

UNR finished 9-22 overall and 5-13 in the MWC during the regular season — the third straight year with a sub-.500 record under Carter.

Carter’s teams never made it to the NCAA Tournament during his six years as coach but reached the NIT twice. His best season came in 2011-12 when the Wolf Pack went 28-7 overall and 13-1 in the Mountain West.

Before Carter became the head coach, he served as an assistant at UNR for 10 years.
