’17 Fusion Platinum draws wide range of buyers at Friendly Ford

The 2017 Ford Fusion Platinum at Friendly Ford has the best of three worlds. With gas, electric and hybrid elements, the vehicle has been a strong-selling model especially to customers wanting good mileage during trips to Los Angeles.

The ’17 Fusion Platinum Energi has fuel mileage ratings of 42 miles to the gallon using gasoline, 97 miles to the gallon when combining fuel and electric and a whopping 104 miles to the gallon when using only electric power.

The Platinum Energi hybrid and electric power plants available in the Platinum Energi not only have an impressive performance package, but an exceptional interior with premium leather trim throughout.

The exterior also is impressive with a unique grille and standard 19-inch polished aluminum wheels.

Powered by the 2.0-liter or the 2.0-liter EcoBoost, Fusion drivers get the power they deserve with the standard six-speed Select Shift automatic transmission that is also available with all-wheel drive.

Other engines available in the Fusion line include the 2.5-liter iCVT I-4 gas engine on S and SE models, the 1.5-liter EcoBoost that delivers very impressive performance and the 2.7-liter V-6 engine available on the new Fusion Sport.

Especially impressive to Friendly Ford sales consultant Johnny Martinez is enhanced active park assist, which literally replaces the worry created when trying to find a place to park.

“You can park perpendicular or parallel hands-free,” said Martinez, a 40-year-old native of Hawaii who has lived in Las Vegas for five years. “You push a button for perpendicular or parallel and the system steers the car for you.

“The feature is standard on the ’17 Ford Fusion Platinum.”

In addition, the seats are heated and cooled on the Fusion Platinum.

Yet another key feature on the Fusion Platinum is Sync 3 voice-activated technology that features new hardware, new software and a new easy-to-use design which enables the owner to keep his or her eyes on the road and hands on the wheel while staying connected to the world.

The Sync 3 system even finds charging stations throughout the country.

The system is especially impressive because it features high-speed performance, a capacitive touchscreen with swiping capability, hands-free calling with enhanced voice recognition, and navigation with easy destination entry and pinch-to-zoom.

The driver-assist technologies include a lane-keeping system and precollision assist with pedestrian detection that alerts the driver to pedestrians entering the driver’s path and can engage the brakes to help stop.

“I have sold several of the Fusion Platinum Energi models,” said Martinez. “One customer worked for Vons and traveled between all the stores in the Western region. He needed one that was very fuel-efficient, and the Platinum was perfect for that.”

Other buyers included everyday commuters who wanted to do their part for the environment. The Platinum has a very good cross-section of buyers.”

Located at 660 N. Decatur Blvd., Friendly Ford opened in 1970. The dealership is a 17-time winner of the prestigious President’s Award, Ford’s highest single honor for customer satisfaction.
