Chrysler Pacifica wins Free Press Utility Vehicle of the Year

Already a best-selling vehicle at Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was recently named the Free Press Utility Vehicle of the Year at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. This prestigious award is presented by a panel of 60 automotive journalists and recognizes vehicles that excel in innovation, value, performance, design excellence and driver satisfaction.

The Pacifica, considered the ultimate family minivan, added new safety technology alongside kid-friendly enhancements. Updated safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind spot alert, lane departure alert and assist and collision alert with automatic braking. The UConnect Theater system inserts two 10-inch touch screens that allow kids to play travel-friendly games and watch movies. The traditional UConnect infotainment system has an 8.4-inch touch screen and advanced voice recognition.

Featuring a hybrid and a nonhybrid model, the Chrysler Pacifica offers impressive features, including a plug-in system (hybrid model) with a lithium-ion battery, a continuously variable automatic transmission and a 30-mile range on a single charge. Quick charging times allow for drivers to be even more efficient during travel.

The nonhybrid model boasts a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid version scores an EPA-rated 84 MPGe combined, while the nonhybrid is also fuel-efficient with 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

“The innovation within the Pacifica is truly astounding and completely transforms the stereotype of a traditional minivan,” said Don Hamrick, general manager of Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. “The enthusiasm from our customers matches the continued increase we’ve seen in sales, proving its wide-ranging appeal as the ultimate modern family vehicle.”

Chrysler added an onboard vacuum to the vehicle, a 360-degree view multicamera system, a self-parking aid and a hands-free power liftgate. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica starts at $24,916 and is available at Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram.
