Allen Lee retires after 34 years with Findlay Automotive

Allen Lee has sold hundreds of models during his 44 years in the car business. He has been part of Findlay Automotive Group for 34 years, starting at Findlay Oldsmobile and Subaru on Boulder Highway.

Lee, 69, retired from the company Dec. 31, after spending the past 8½ years as general manager of Findlay Honda, which opened in the northwest on July 9, 2007.

Lee grew up in Panaca with Findlay Automotive Group President Cliff Findlay. In Las Vegas, he joined the company to supplement his teaching income after gaining his degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 1970.

Lee purchased a 2016 Honda Accord on his last day with the company.

"Eighty percent of the time in the past 16 years I have been with Honda, I have driven Accords," he said. "It has great power and it's the perfect car. It's the right size, has great performance and excellent economy."

Lee added, "It's actually kind of interesting that this is the first time in 45 years that I have actually purchased a car for myself."

In fact, Lee already has plans for his new Accord — he and his wife of 48 years, Joanne, will take the vehicle to Nashville in mid-February. They are going to travel the South and watch their oldest granddaughter play softball at Belmont University.

Lee said the growth of Findlay Automotive Group has been fascinating to witness.

"The foundation was laid by Pete, and Cliff has taken it to great heights," Lee said. "Pete Findlay's foresight was unbelievable."

Findlay Automotive Group Chief Financial Officer Tyler Corder praised Lee.

"Allen has been a dedicated and loyal member of our team for many years and he has contributed greatly to our success," Corder said. "He was respected and honored by employees, customers and vendors alike. He is a true gentleman and a genuinely nice guy. We'll miss him and we wish him the best in his retirement."

Veteran automobile executive Chuck Loubert will succeed Lee at the dealership at 7494 W. Azure Drive in the northwest valley.
