Findlay Volkswagen in the Valley Automall has continuous community events

Car shows seemingly go hand-in-hand with automobile dealerships. Nothing is more evident of that than First Friday at Findlay held each month at Findlay Volkswagen in the Valley Automall.

Dealership general manager Doug Fleming said the events usually draw about 50 entries and grows to more than 100 during the year. The benefit of the gatherings is invaluable.

Multiple Volkswagen clubs come to the dealership every month, joining food trucks, radio stations and hundreds of fans. Depending on the time of year, the shows will begin at 6 or 7 p.m. lasting about three hours.

Now in the 13th year, the First Friday events have grown in both classic Volkswagens and attendees.

Especially interesting is the preparation that goes into each event along with the coordination involved.

"We move all inventory from the front of the lot to make room for the shows," Fleming added.

He said the various vehicles for the show include some unique models.

"It changes every month," said Fleming. "Cars connect people and create an opportunity to get together and enjoy good times.

"It's a great environment. Cars and people make up the perfect combination. Everyone has an absolute blast."

The next event is set for today.

Concluded Monday at Findlay Volkswagen was a gathering of Global Rally drivers featuring Scott Speed and Tanner Foust. Hundreds of fans gathered to meet the drivers and enjoy the food and capitalize on the event.

"I'm a big believer in community events," said Fleming, who also is general manager of both Findlay Volkswagen Henderson in the Valley Automall and Findlay North Volkswagen at 7500 W. Azure Dr. in the Centennial Hills area.

Both Findlay Volkswagen dealerships are part of Findlay Automotive Group founded more than 50 years ago by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff, now spearheads 28 new and pre-owned automobile dealerships in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Oregon.
