Friendly Ford kicks off annual U.S. Marines Toys for Tots drive
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive kicked off on Thanksgiving weekend at Friendly Ford. A fixture at the dealership for more than 15 years, the heartfelt gathering of toys is placed in the back of a new Ford 150 truck each year.
Spearheaded by longtime Friendly Ford customer care coordinator Geri Bich, the drive is supported by all of the dealership's departments. When completed before Christmas, members of the U.S. Marines will pick up the toys before donating them to needy children throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
"We really look forward to this every year," said Bich. "There are so many needy children in Southern Nevada who would not have a Christmas were it not for this cause. The U.S. Marine Corp includes some of the most caring people on earth."
The Marines will pick up the toys from the dealership Dec. 15.
The 2014 Toys for Tots campaign was a resounding success raising $6.4 million and collecting more than 220,000 toys, helping bring holiday joy to kids in need across the United States.
"This is a wonderful cause," said dealership general sales manager Steve Crevling. "We help every year and we're proud to be a part of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots."
Founded in 1970, Friendly Ford has enjoyed 45 years at the same location. It is one of the oldest and longest-standing automobile dealerships in Nevada.
