X side of Infiniti on full display in the 2017 QX60

The “X factor” in mathematic equations often represents the unknown. With the 2017 Infiniti QX60, calculating the X factor takes into account elements of a crossover vehicle that is provocative, powerful and poised. The result is a luxurious ride with an engine that packs a punch.

This year’s QX60 boasts an updated V-6 engine with direct injection that boosts power and torque compared to the 2016 model. Yet the brand maintains its hallmark comfort, versatility and style.

“One of the best elements of the QX60 is the third-row seat,” Park Place Infiniti General Manager Rob Schweizer said. “There’s a lot of room back there, which makes it great for families, for road trip adventures and for when an office carpool might be in order for that power lunch. It’s a nice ride.”

Like the 2016 QX60, this refreshed 2017 model — which already has arrived at Park Place Infiniti — remains in a class all its own.

Edmunds.com car reviewers praise its continuously variable transmission, calling it “an enviable refinement advantage over every other transmission.” CVTs don’t have predetermined shift points, so acceleration in the QX60 is always an uninterrupted shove all the way up to your desired speed. Coupled with its plush ride and quiet cockpit, the QX60 has the right ingredients for a long interstate drive, according to Edmunds.com reviewer Jason Kavanagh.

He also praised the luxury and thoughtful design of this model’s well-appointed interior.

“It not only looks good, but it’s also easy to find all the controls,” Kavanagh said in his review. “We also like the easy access to the third row.”

Reviewers are not the only ones taking notice.

The 2017 Infiniti QX60 also won top honors for safety. This model was awarded a 5-star overall safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration under the agency’s New Car Assessment Program.

The 2017 Infiniti QX60 features a variety of innovative safety features, such as the lane departure warning and lane departure prevention system that helps keep the driver from unintentionally drifting from the lane. It utilizes a camera to monitor the distance between the vehicle and lane markings. If the vehicle drifts towards the lane markers, the system first sounds an audible warning, then lightly applies selected brakes to help ease the vehicle back towards its lane.

Another safety option is the protective collision warning system that warns the driver of risks that may be obscured from the driver’s forward field-of-view. It not only senses the relative velocity and distance of a vehicle directly ahead but also of a vehicle traveling in front of the preceding one.

This system option naturally goes hand in hand with Infiniti’s new forward emergency braking system with pedestrian detection. This measures not only the distance between the vehicles, but it also can help detect pedestrians, assisting the driver in identifying and reacting to a potential collision.

The system works by providing an audible and visual warning. If the driver doesn’t engage the brakes, the system can apply the brakes partially or fully if necessary.

“The Infiniti QX60 is a great choice for anyone who needs versatility but also wants luxury and style with exceptional handling,” Schweizer said.

“This is a great user-friendly model with intuitive technology and a variety of features drivers can custom fit to their lifestyle.”
