Do you hold that golden ticket?

If you hold a betting ticket that has the San Diego Chargers at 500-to-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl, I want to talk with you.

My recently published Las Vegas Business Press column detailed how MGM Mirage sports book officials dropped the Chargers, one of the preseason favorites for the Super Bowl, to 500-to-1 odds of winning the NFL championship when the club was 4-8 and seemingly out of contention.

San Diego won its final four games while the Denver Broncos lost their remaining three games. The Chargers won the AFC West, made the playoffs and MGM Mirage reduced the team’s odds to 8-to-1. However, MGM Mirage Director of Race and Sports Jay Rood said a few customers hold those golden tickets.

The Chargers’ 23-17 overtime win over Indianapolis Saturday moves the team one step closer to the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 in Tampa and a large payday for those owning the rare 500-to-1 tickets. If you have one of the tickets, contact me at hstutz@reviewjournal.com.

You would make a great story.

Of course, if the Chargers lose on Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers, all bets are off.
