Las Vegas Sands approved for 200 additional table games in its Macau casinos

Las Vegas Sands Corp. obtained approval from the Macau government to add 200 more gaming tables, various Asian media outlets reported Monday.

The bulk of the table games will be added to the Venetian Macau.

The allotment comes a quarter ahead of previous estimates and will allow Las Vegas Sands to replace gaming tables that were transferred from the Venetian Macau to the Sands Cotai Central last year.

Las Vegas Sands total number of table games at its four Macau casinos will increase by 15 percent to 1,535.

“These additional tables should help LVS increase its market share of the attractively growing mass-market segment in Macau,” JP Morgan gaming analyst Joe Greff told investors.

At the Venetian Macau, the table games moved to Sands Cotai Central were replaced by slot machines, electronic table games, double-dealer table games or semi-mechanical tables, which have relatively lower win per day.

“Venetian Macau’s mass-market volume was negatively impacted,” Greff said. “However, with 200 more tables, Sands China should be able to replace some lower yielding units with higher yielding table games at the Venetian casino.”
