Lopez named chief operating officer at Shuffle Master

Shuffle Master named one of its longtime executives to a top management position in what might be a move to quell critics concerned about the company’s gaming experience at the top of the ticket.

The table game and gambling equipment provider appointed 12-year executive David Lopez as chief operating officer, essentially the No. 2 senior level position in the Las Vegas-based company.

The move comes about month after the death of former Shuffle Master Chief Executive Officer Tim Parrott, who was replaced by Phillip Peckman, who stepped down as the company’s board chairman.

Peckman, whose background is in law and accounting, spent 16 years as the top executive with the Greenspun Corp.

Lopez, who had most recently served as Shuffle Master’s executive vice president, will have responsibility over the company’s foreign subsidiaries, sales, marketing, research and development, and operations.

“David has had an invaluable impact on Shuffle Master’s success and his insight into all facets of our business uniquely qualifies him to perform the duties of chief operating officer,” Peckman said in a statement.

Shuffle Master also announced the promotion of Kim Vukanovich to senior vice president of operations and administration.

“Both (Lopez and Vukanovich) have significant experience and well established track records, and we are confident that their leadership will continue to successfully move Shuffle Master forward in the future,” Peckman said.
