State investigating possible illegal gambling by Whitney Houston’s daughter
Nevada gaming regulators are looking into allegations that Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, the daughter of the late pop superstar Whitney Houston, was gambling at the MGM Grand last weekend.
Gaming Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli said late Monday that the agency's investigators are looking into the matter. If the underage gambling happened, the question, he said, is whether casino employees allowed the activity to take place.
A gambler in Nevada must be 21.
The celebrity gossip website TMZ.com posted a video Monday allegedly showing the teenager, daughter of Houston, who died in February, and entertainer Bobby Brown, playing slot machines at the casino with her 22-year-old boyfriend.
Bobbi Kristina was in town to attend the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Sunday.
No casino employees can be seen in the brief video.
Underage gambling is a misdemeanor in Nevada. It is punishable by up to six months in the Clark County jail or a fine of $1,000.
The MGM Grand, which is owned by MGM Resorts International, could be subject to fines.
MGM Resorts spokesman Gordon Absher said the casino "will cooperate fully with the Gaming Control Board."
