Venetian convention facilities getting $188M renovation

Updated October 16, 2023 - 12:35 pm

A three-year, $188 million renovation of The Venetian’s convention facilities will begin next year, the company announced Monday.

Las Vegas design firm Woogmaster Studio has been contracted for the renovation, which will occur between 2024 and 2026.

“Embarking on a refresh of a convention center that hosts back-to-back events year in and year out is no easy task, but our promise is to provide our guests a best-in-class experience,” Patrick Nichols, president and CEO of The Venetian, said in a release. “The finishes and amenities planned were thoughtfully curated based on feedback from our customers and will usher in a new era of Venetian meetings and maintain our position at the forefront of the industry.

The Venetian is owned by Vici Properties and operated by New York-based Apollo Global Management. The renovation is part of a $1 billion capital investment project for the entire resort.

Inspired by the needs of the property’s longstanding group guests, key design elements will include a new color palette that presents an upscale departure from the traditional convention spaces, luxury lounge spaces for meetings and new technology.

Additional offerings will include elevated lounge-style spaces for executives. A new speakeasy-style lounge will provide an opportunity to host invitation-only events in a 10,000-square-foot space, designed with woods, marble, velvet and mirrors symbolizing a romantic, layered and modern take on the Venetian design of the 1930s, according to a news release.

The convention center will integrate traditional architectural with contemporary design elements that the resort says will result in a “fusion of the resort’s heritage and modern sophistication.” The interior will have a color palette of cream, white and platinum, accented by caramel upholstery and blue demark carpeting.

Murano glass chandeliers and streamlined brass sconces situated throughout are planned. Throughout the complex, upgraded lighting, audio visual updates and state-of-the-art digital screens and technology will be installed to provide a new backdrop for meeting planners and events.

The Venetian hosts the third-largest convention facility in the country — and the largest privately held one — behind the Las Vegas Convention Center and Chicago’s McCormick Place.
