Sun City Mesquite to host event

The Sun City Mesquite community, located in Mesquite, will host a free Fourth of July celebration featuring activities today from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Located about 80 miles north of Las Vegas and 30 minutes south of St. George, Utah, Sun City Mesquite offers a selection of 14 single-story home designs ranging from 1,200 to 3,100 square feet. There are 13 models available and prices start in the low $170,000s.

Food, refreshments and cocktails will be available at a nominal charge.

The culmination of the event will be a fireworks show sponsored by the city of Mesquite at 9:30 p.m., viewable from the event lawn at Sun City Mesquite.

Residents of Sun City Mesquite have private access to a 30,000-square-foot community recreation center, which provides recreational and social opportunities. Inside, it features a climate-controlled swimming pool. Other indoor features include a heated spa, a two-story fitness center with an upper- level walking track (offering panoramic views across the nearby mesa), kitchen, large central hall, billiards room, coffee lounge with a plasma screen television, computer kiosks, and rooms designated for various classes, hobbies and clubs.

Private outdoor features for residents and their guests include an 18-hole putting course, walking trails, a resort-style swimming pool designed for recreation, two heated spas and tennis, bocce and pickle ball courts.

A major highlight of the community is Conestoga, an 18-hole, championship, daily fee golf course (managed by Troon Golf) which will be open to public play and is set for completion later this year.
