Summerlin’s new village The Cliffs breaks ground June 10

Summerlin has announced a groundbreaking date for its first new village in more than a decade.

The master-planned community on the Las Vegas Valley’s western rim will break ground on The Cliffs on June 10, developer The Howard Hughes Corp. announced Tuesday.

The Cliffs will have 1,700 homes in 11 neighborhoods, including Regency, a luxury age-qualified community by Toll Brothers with 425 homes on 100 acres.

The Cliffs will be at Summerlin’s southernmost tip, just south of Bishop Gorman High School, near Hualapai Way and Patrick Lane. It will be the 20th of 31 planned villages in the community.

Land within the village’s 450 acres is already home to the Wet ‘n’ Wild water park and Faiss Middle School.

The last Summerlin village to break ground was The Mesa in 2004.

Summerlin has 5,400 acres of its 22,500-acre footprint left to develop.

Summerlin President Kevin Orrock called the groundbreaking “a sure sign of the valley’s continuing economic recovery and the ongoing realization of the Summerlin master plan.”
