Opening slated for Trump condo-hotel

Donald Trump's gold-plated luxury condo-hotel tower is set to open in March.

The 1,282-unit Trump International Hotel & Tower will begin accepting residents at the beginning of the month while the hotel program, which allows the individual owners to lease their units, will begin March 31.

Steve Shalit, the hotel program's managing director, on Monday said a handful of the units have been reserved by hotel guests for the March 31 opening. He said the number of units in the hotel program will fluctuate.

"It's clearly a basis of sales closing," Shalit said, adding the building should be able to accommodate residents earlier that month.

Shalit said hotel rates will start at $238 a night and increase based on the size of the unit and location in the building.

The Trump Organization says the 645-foot tower will open with a spa, a signature restaurant called DJT, a heated outdoor pool and 2,400 square feet of meeting space. The organization says the boutique property is understated because it lacks a casino. The tower is on the Strip near Fashion Show mall.

The Trump International has a cost of $1.2 billion, which includes plans for a second tower that is expected to break ground at the end of the year.
