Convention draws 2,700 wedding specialists to Las Vegas

For 2,700 wedding specialists attending the annual Wedding Pro Convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center, it's been four days of workshops, networking and the debut of the latest trends in the business of how to capture the nearly $90 billion being spent worldwide in weddings.

Nearly 25 percent of all weddings are to destinations. Therese Cole-Hubbs of Electric Karma International knows something about that. For 30 years and 672 weddings, she has traveled the world specializing in South Asian-themed ceremonies. She is noticing a trend of East meets West weddings with a couple doing both Western- and Eastern-themed weddings.

"It's taking the world of weddings to a new level," she said.

Some wedding celebrations she has coordinated can go for three to five days with prices upward of $250,000. For her, the perk of her business is that she gets to stay with the family and learn their traditions.

The show, which was closed to the public, concludes Thursday.
