Frontier to kick off cheap Las Vegas flights to this city in ’25
Denver-based Frontier Airlines will compete on routes from Las Vegas to Reno-Tahoe International Airport next year and will launch service with a limited number of promotional fares of $19 one way.
The airline, currently the fifth busiest commercial air carrier at Harry Reid International Airport carrying 2.9 million passengers in the first nine months of 2024, will begin three-times-weekly flights beginning March 7. Las Vegas is Frontier’s third-busiest destination behind Denver and Orlando, Florida.
Flights will operate Sundays, Mondays and Fridays with Las Vegas departures at 5:03 p.m., arriving in Reno at 6:37 p.m., and the return flights leaving Reno at 7:37 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 9 p.m.
Frontier will use its 186-passenger, twin-engine Airbus A320 jets on the route.
The company operates a fleet of 150 jets, including 90 A320s and has 49 A320s with new engine options on order from Airbus with expected deliveries by 2026.
The new flights are among 16 new routes announced nationwide on Tuesday, which also include three weekly nonstop flights between Reno and Denver.
Frontier will compete on the Reno route with Southwest Airlines, which offers 60 round-trip flights a week, and Spirit Airlines, which has 20 a week. Spirit earlier this week filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which means it will continue to fly as it reorganizes its financial situation.
The airline is inaugurating the new Reno service with fares as low as $19 one way, which must be booked by 9 p.m., Monday.
For Las Vegas-Reno flights, the special $19 fares are only good on Mondays, March 10, 17, 24, 31 and April 7, 14 and 21 with Friday and Saturday flights blacked out.
To take advantage of those fares, customers must be enrolled in Frontier’s Discount Den program, which has a $40 enrollment fee and a $60 annual cost.
Frontier also charges extra for checked baggage and carry-on bags and for seat selection. The airline’s planes have a limited number of seats with extra room that cost more.
Frontier also has a free four-tiered loyalty program called Frontier Miles that can reduce amenity costs and accrue points for free travel.
