International arrivals up sharply at McCarran

International passenger arrivals at McCarran International Airport continued its torrid pace in June as 3.7 million people passed through the gates at the Las Vegas airport’s terminals, a 1.3 percent increase over June 2013.

Foreign traffic was up 16.1 percent, offsetting a decline in air tour passengers and flat numbers in domestic travel, the Clark County Aviation Department announced Thursday. It was the fourth straight month that more than 3.5 million passengers used the airport.

At the halfway point of 2014, 21.2 million passengers were recorded at McCarran, 2.2 percent more than 2013’s six-month total.

Southwest Airlines continued to be the busiest carrier at McCarran with 1.5 million passengers, but international arrivals were also impressive with seven international carriers showing double-digit percentage increases in passengers over June 2013.
