Bellagio heist suspect charged in second robbery

Anthony Carleo, the infamous suspect in the Bellagio chip robbery, has been charged in a second casino robbery carried out in a similar fashion days before the Bellagio heist.

The Clark County district attorney's office charged Carleo with two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and one count of burglary with a deadly weapon in the Dec. 9 robbery of the Suncoast poker room.

Carleo, the son of Municipal Judge George Assad, was long suspected in the Suncoast robbery but had not been charged until Thursday. Police said Carleo stole $1.5 million in chips in the Bellagio robbery and about $18,000 in cash from Suncoast.

Both the Bellagio and Suncoast robberies involved a man using a motorcycle for a quick getaway. The man also used a helmet to conceal his face.

Carleo was arrested and charged in the Bellagio heist Feb. 2. He remains at the Clark County Detention Center.
