California man indicted in slaying at Silverton casino

A 20-year-old California man was indicted by a grand jury last week on seven felony counts including murder, armed robbery and conspiracy in connection with the November execution-style slaying of a fellow gang member in the Silverton casino parking garage, authorities said.

Westley Casasola remains at large after the Nov. 30 shooting of Jose Mollinedo, 19, also of California.

Authorities allege the two men were from the same gang in Victorville, Calif., and think Casasola might have been ordered, for an unknown reason, to shoot Mollinedo.

The slaying was caught on hotel security cameras.

Video of the shooting showed two men walking about 9:30 a.m. on the fifth level of the casino's parking garage, off Interstate 15 and Blue Diamond Road.

The footage showed the shooter dropping back before pulling out a gun and putting it to the back of the victim's head. Mollinedo dropped to the ground after a shot was fired.

The shooter then fled.
