Coroner’s office identifies man shot, killed by Las Vegas police

A man shot and killed by Las Vegas police officers Monday night was identified Wednesday.

Luis Carlos Silva, 54, of Las Vegas was identified by the county coroner's office.

Officers were called to 2842 Taurus Court, near Las Vegas Boulevard and Pecos Road, about 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said early evidence indicated a suicidal man in the home pointed a gun at officers, who then shot him.

It was not known how many officers fired.

A visibly distraught woman at the home declined to be interviewed Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was the eighth officer-involved shooting in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
