Guns, ammo seized in IHOP shooting probe
CARSON CITY -- Authorities investigating a deadly mass shooting at an IHOP restaurant said Thursday that they have seized guns, ammunition, pill bottles, passports and paperwork from the shooter's home and vehicle.
They also recovered what they described as a religious book with a puzzling written annotation: "7/22/2012 End of." It was among 43 items found at Eduardo Sencion's house, according to court documents.
Detectives collected a medication for high blood pressure but did not say whether drugs for mental illness were taken. Family members have said Sencion was schizophrenic.
Sencion stormed the Carson City restaurant with an AK-47 assault rifle on Sept. 6 and shot 11 people before turning the gun on himself. Four of his victims died, including three members of the Nevada National Guard.
Other items on the search warrant return were a knife, bankruptcy papers and letters from Sencion's lawyer, a small laptop computer, two cellphones, five passports and a CD by a Mexican band. The documents were first reported by the Nevada Appeal.
The list included a 12-gauge shotgun, two BB guns, a pellet gun, target stickers, scope, bulletproof vest and videotapes and periodicals about guns. Among items recovered from Sencion's minivan were a Glock 9mm pistol, loaded Glock magazines, a bag containing 16 AK-47 magazines with live rounds and a black gun case containing "one loaded magazine and (an) AK-47," the papers said.
