Henderson police find pregnant woman in suspected kidnapping unharmed

Henderson police found a 22-year-old pregnant woman suspected of being kidnapped unharmed late Friday afternoon.

Officers were looking for Brittney M. Nelson because she is nine months pregnant and her boyfriend, 35-year-old Robert A. Watkins III, has been accused of beating and choking her. Watkins was in court earlier Wednesday for a trial on domestic battery charges that stemmed from an August assault. Police believe he left court and sought out Nelson.

Police said Nelson was abducted from the couple's Henderson home on Nebraska Avenue about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Watkins was seen nearby on Wyoming Avenue forcing Nelson to go with him by pulling her by the hair and grabbing her neck.

Officers called Watkins' cellphone Wednesday and the man appeared agitated and told detectives they were headed out of the state. The officer convinced Watkins to allow him to talk to Nelson, who appeared to be under duress. When asked their location, Watkins apparently grabbed the phone from Nelson.

Based on several leads, police believe the pair was still in the area Wednesday and Thursday. Henderson police opted to delay releasing information to the public because they had been in contact with Watkins in the days after the kidnapping.

Police said Nelson was found about 5:45 p.m., but Watkins has not been located.

He is described as white, 5 feet 8, weighing about 200 pounds. He has blue eyes, blond hair and several tattoos including one of his initials - RAW III - above his left eye brow.

Anyone who finds him is asked to call 911. Anyone with information is asked to call the Henderson Police Department at 267-4913 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
