Homeless man critically injured in trash bin fire

A homeless man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he caught fire Thursday night.

North Las Vegas firefighters responded to a trash bin fire about
11:15 p.m. and found the man engulfed in flames, Captain Cedric Williams said.

The fire behind a business near Bassler Street and Haddock Avenue, near Las Vegas Boulevard and Belmont Street, was put out in a couple minutes.

The man was transported to the University Medical Center Burn Care Center in critical condition.

The cause of the fire has not been established and the incident is still under investigation. The fire department is asking any witnesses with information to call 633-1102.
