Las Vegas man dies in five-vehicle accident

A 25-year-old man was killed in a five-vehicle collision at Boulder Highway and Russell Road late Saturday night, Las Vegas police said Sunday.

The identity of the deceased Las Vegas man was not released.

Police said a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling south on Boulder Highway crossing Russell at 11:43 p.m. when it collided with the right front of a 2005 Toyota Corolla that was traveling west on Russell.

The collision caused the Corolla to cross into a left west travel lane where it collided with a 2010 Nissan Rogue that was traveling west on Russell next to the Toyota.

The Rogue then went south on Russell and struck a traffic post.

The Corolla continued moving and struck a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe that was stopped in the left travel lane eastbound on Russell.

Police said after the initial impact, the Blazer was forced into a southwest direction and struck a 2007 Nissan Sentra that was stopped in the right of two left-turn lanes of eastbound Russell.

The man who died was driving the Corolla, police said.

He was not wearing a seat belt. He died at the scene, police said.

Three other adults sustained minor injuries in the collision.

The accident marked the 64th traffic-related fatality under the jurisdiction of Las Vegas police this year.
