Las Vegas police arrest two after high-speed chase with shots fired

Two robbery suspects were arrested Wednesday morning after they shot at officers during a high-speed chase along the valley streets and freeways, Las Vegas police said.

Kyle Knights, 18, and Richard Anthony Sanchez, 19, were caught about
2 a.m. after officers performed a Precision Intervention Technique, a PIT, to spin and stall their truck on U.S. Highway 95 near Eastern Avenue.

Both men were taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries. They later were booked at the Clark County jail on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary with a deadly weapon.

Knights also had a warrant for battery with a deadly weapon from a prior incident.

The men were suspects in armed robberies at a Rebel convenience store, 4220 E. Sahara Ave., at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and a Green Valley Grocery store, 5785 E. Charleston Blvd., about an hour later, police said.

They were in Sanchez's white construction truck when a patrol officer tried to stop the vehicle about 1 a.m. near Sahara and Nellis Boulevard, police said.

A chase ensued, and throughout the pursuit, Sanchez leaned out from the window and fired at officers, police said. No police were injured.

Sanchez either dropped or threw the gun out the window, police said. The gun later was found by police.

A woman in the truck was taken to UMC for examination, although police said she was not injured. She has not been charged.

Sanchez's criminal history includes arrests for assault, attempted murder and drug trafficking.
