Man gets 10 years in prison in Henderson sex case

A former Las Vegas man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to entice a minor to have sex with him.

Johnson Sheffield, 28, of Austin, Texas, pleaded guilty in November to two counts of coercion and enticement of a minor. He was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro in Las Vegas.

Authorities said Sheffield posted an advertisement on craigslist.com that stated he was seeking a girl for sex. It included two photographs -- one of his face and another of a penis.

An undercover detective from the Henderson Police Department told Sheffield that he was a 14-year-old girl, and Sheffield asked whether they could meet. He then arranged to meet the next day at a grocery store in Henderson.

When Sheffield arrived at the grocery store, he was arrested. Detectives later executed search warrants on Sheffield's cell phone and found evidence that he had solicited several other minor girls for sex, authorities said.
