October 11, 2012 - 12:57 pm
A driver who died after his vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck on state Route 160 Wednesday was identified as 70-year-old Kent Ralston of Las Vegas, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported Thursday.
Wednesday's 11 a.m. collision closed both lanes of the highway until about
5:30 p.m. The crash occurred about two miles east of Mountain Springs.
According to the Highway Patrol, a 1994 Freightliner tractor was traveling north while Ralston was driving a 2002 Ford Thunderbird south.
Ralston failed to maintain his travel lanes and crossed the double yellow line, and he collided with the semi-truck, the patrol said.
Ralston was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was
identified as a 42-year-old man from Tacoma, Wash.
He was treated and released at University Medical Center.
