Man pleads to role in 2006 campsite shooting

LOVELOCK -- A 22-year-old man has entered an Alford plea to a reduced charge for his role in the May 2006 shooting death of a Winnemucca man at a campsite in Pershing County.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports Nick Andrews entered the plea to involuntary manslaughter with use of a deadly weapon this past week in connection with the death of 19-year-old George Moritz in Sonoma Canyon.

Sentencing is April 5 in 6th District Court. Under the plea, Andrews didn't admit guilt, but acknowledged that prosecutors could prove their case at trial. An Alford plea is treated as a guilty plea by the court.
