Man shot dead after botched robbery in east valley

A man was found dead Saturday morning after a botched robbery ended in gunfire near Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards, Las Vegas police said.

The man was walking home from a nearby grocery store when two men confronted him. Witnesses told police they heard several shots and saw both suspects fleeing west on Judson Avenue.

Responders found the man lying in the street near Clancy Street and Judson Avenue about 6:40 a.m., police said. He had a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The slaying is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
