Man who killed roommate sentenced

A 49-year-old man who forced his roommate to squeal like a pig before shooting him four times over trivial disagreements was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Perry Danley in August pleaded guilty prior to the start of his death penalty trial for the January 2009 slaying of Jon Moore. Before jury selection began, prosecutors offered to drop the death penalty if Danley pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

Danley agreed and told District Judge Valerie Adair that he had been thinking and dreaming of killing Moore for days leading up to the slaying.

On Thursday, Adair sentenced Danley to the life prison term.

At the time of his arrest on Jan. 27, 2009, Danley told Las Vegas police that he hid Moore's body in a closet for weeks and waited to see how long it would take for someone to investigate the smell of the rotting corpse.

Danley lived in a house with six roommates near Rancho Drive and Oakey Boulevard. When his roommates complained about the smell, he told them it was from a dead animal in the walls of the house.
