One dead, one injured in northeast valley shooting

Two men were shot, one fatally, at an apartment complex Thursday night in the northeast valley, Las Vegas police said.

Lt. Dan McGrath said the shooting occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the Adobe Villas, 3550 E. Lake Mead Blvd., near Pecos Road.

McGrath said according to preliminary information, two men were shot by a man who fled the scene. One man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. The other suffered only minor injuries.

McGrath said no arrests have been made as of 9:10 p.m. Witnesses described a possible suspect as a heavyset black man with dreadlocks dressed in red at the complex.

McGrath said gang and homicide detectives are investigating.
