Pahrump man arrested on 5,000 counts of child pornography

A Pahrump man was arrested on 5,000 counts of child pornography Thursday, according to the Nye County sheriff's office.

Christopher Kinder, 43, is being held with a bail of more than $25 million. In addition to the pornography offenses, Kinder was booked on a count each of possession of a controlled substance and an ex-felon failing to register, police said.

Nye County detectives executed a search warrant at Kinder's home after receiving information that he was viewing child pornography, police said. Kinder's laptop reportedly contained more than 5,000 sexually explicit photographs of children, police said. Detectives also found a bottle of Oxycodone belonging to someone else, police said.

Kinder was convicted of lewdness with a child in New Jersey and did not register as a felon when he moved to Nye County, police said.
