Police arrest suspect after convenience store shooting

Police arrested a 20-year-old man Friday morning in connection with the Thursday shooting death outside a convenience store.

James Johnson was booked at the county jail after a four-hour standoff at a house in the 2400 block of Abarth Street, less than a mile from the shooting scene, Las Vegas police said.

Johnson was arrested in the killing of Chadrick Wilson, 37, just after midnight Thursday in the parking lot of the Sahara Mini-Mart on Sahara Avenue, just east of Nellis Boulevard.

Johnson and Wilson had been fighting in the store before moving to the parking lot, where Johnson shot Wilson, police said.

Johnson, who uses the moniker "Crazy," was booked on several charges including murder with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call homicide detectives at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
