Police say shooting at Emerald Suites drug-related

A Thursday shooting in the south valley that is believed to be drug-related left one man dead, Las Vegas police said.

The victim was not identified by authorities.

Police said they received a 2:30 p.m. call about shots being fired.

They responded to the Emerald Suites, 9145 Las Vegas Boulevard S., near Serene Avenue, and found the body, which appeared to have gunshot wounds to the neck, police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said.

Homicide Sgt. Russ Shoemaker said the victim was shot in a room at the extended-stay complex.

Several people who matched suspect descriptions were taken into custody but then released by police, Shoemaker said.

Police are searching for two suspects. One is described as a black man, about 6 feet tall and in his late 20s to early 30s.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is urged to call the Las Vegas police Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
