Rain damage at Regional Justice Center delays entry to courthouse

Yikes!

If you have to go to the Regional Justice Center Wednesday morning prepare to wait - a long, long time - to enter the courthouse.

Heavy rains on Tuesday damaged security machines used to scan for weapons as the public enters the courthouse, a court spokeswoman said.

Only one X-ray machine was working Wednesday morning and as of 9 a.m. the line to enter the RJC stretched for almost a quarter of a mile around Lewis Avenue and on to Casino Center Boulevard. The wait could be 30 minutes, if not longer.

"This is crazy," one man said as he walked around the block to find the end of the line near Clark Avenue.

The good news for those waiting on line was that no rain was expected to fall Wednesday and the high was expected to be in the low 90s.
