Suspect leaves traffic warrant at burglary scene
Ryan Drew might have gotten away with the burglary if he hadn't dropped a warrant for his arrest at the scene.
On March 27, a Las Vegas man discovered that his Summerlin home had been broken into and 22 items, worth more than $2,000, were missing.
Searching for clues as to who might have committed the crime, the victim searched the outside of his house, near Town Center Drive and Twain Avenue.
That is when the break in the case came. Underneath a kitchen window that had been pried open was a small blue piece of paper.
It was a warrant from Las Vegas Municipal Court for traffic violations with Drew's name and address on it.
With a suspect list of one, Las Vegas police arrested Drew soon after. However, by the time he was cuffed, Drew had already pawned the 22 items for $404. Police were able to retrieve the items and return them to the owners.
Drew, 23, pleaded guilty this week to one count of burglary. He is set to be sentenced Oct. 4 by District Judge James Bixler.
Drew faces one to 10 years in prison. He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
