April 28, 2012 - 1:55 pm
North Las Vegas police have identified the suspected accomplice in a Thursday morning shooting that left two men dead and two women critically injured as Jose Alejandro Gonzales, 22.
He was previously identified only as "Smokey."
Ivonne Cabrera, 31, was arrested Friday and being held in the North Las Vegas Detention Center on charges including two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Police said she and Gonzales broke into a North Las Vegas home early Thursday and one or both of them shot all four people inside.
Police described Gonzales, who also used the name Jose Diaz, as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and is believed to be bald or have a shaved head. He has a tattoo on his chest that reads, "Forgive me mother for my crazy life," and one on the back of his neck that reads, "OC."
He is a felon with prior convictions for evading a police officer and assault with a deadly weapon.
Gonzales is originally from Mission Viejo, Calif., and still has family in that area. He has lived in Southern Nevada for several years. He may be driving a gray Dodge Intrepid and is considered to be armed and dangerous.
He was seen with Cabrera in the past few weeks near the area of the shooting, on the 2000 block of Webster Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Civic Center Drive.
The names of the four victims have not been released. Police said all four were between the ages of 24 and 27.
The two women were at University Medical Center recovering from gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. Their conditions were improving Saturday, a North Las Vegas police spokesman said.
Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Gonzales is encouraged to call police at 702-633-9111 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 702-385-5555.
