1 dead after confrontation at 7-Eleven in southeast Las Vegas
Two people were arrested on robbery charges after a 24-year-old man was fatally shot in a Sunday night confrontation at a southeast valley 7-Eleven.
Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said the shooter, a manager at the store, was detained while police investigated but was later released. He has not been charged.
McGrath said he would meet with the Clark County district attorney’s office on Tuesday to review video and discuss potential charges against the shooter.
He said the shooter did not appear to have a license to carry a concealed weapon.
Jail records show that Eric Ball, 18, and Richard Ball, 20, were booked into the Clark County Detention Center after the shooting. Each faces charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary.
Detectives said they found a knife near the front door of the 7-Eleven, and another knife outside the store.
Police said David Barron, the man who was killed, entered the 4510 Vegas Valley Drive store earlier in the night with Eric Ball and Richard Ball, but left after a confrontation with two employees that nearly turned into a fight.
The trio returned to the store just before midnight. During the second confrontation, one of the employees drew a gun and shot Barron in the chest, McGrath said.
Barron was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner.

The death marks the 134th homicide in Clark County this year and the 112th homicide investigated by Metro.
